The Best Roommates I ever had in PB

Posted by ThePacificBeach.com on Monday, March 30, 2020, In : Pacific Beach Life

After living alone for a couple of years post-college, I've realized that it might be safer for me to live with roommates. The random knocks in the middle of the night were scaring me when I lived in my studio in Pacific Beach (read this post about this story when I lived alone).

The next place I lived at after my solo time in my studio was a 3 bedroom apartment on Pacific Beach Drive. The situation was a girl was looking for 2 new roommates to replace the roommates she was living with. She wa...

Who is Slo Mo?

Posted by Thepacificbeach.com on Friday, October 3, 2014,
Every resident knows of Slow ("Slo") Mo in Pacific Beach. He is that graceful rollerblader who always wears a blue tank or shirt. He skates to classical music out loud and does slow motion. However, not everyone knows that he was a doctor who lived in a North Carolina. He is divorced and has grown kids and now lives simply and does what he loves all day. Check out our facebook to see the full video of his interview: https://facebook.com/thepacificbeach. It is inspiring.

Moondoggies is no more and it feels like an end of an era

Posted by ThePacificBeach.com on Sunday, March 2, 2014, In : Pub Crawls
I had a lot of memories at Moondoggies. It was one of my go to spots when I was 21 years old and a senior at SDSU. I associate Moondoggies with my college years and the few years after it. Well, it's now closed and new businesses like Duck Dive prosper and take more of the market share. Who can blame them? They have great food and sit really close to the water.

To me, it feels like it's an end to my era. I am no longer that 20 something year old and those memories of Moondoggies only exist in...

Labor Day weekend at Typhoon Saloon in Pacific Beach (now CLOSED)

Posted by ThePacificBeach.com on Sunday, September 8, 2013, In : Pub Crawls
-- Note: Typhoon Saloon is now CLOSED. --

I went to Typhoon Saloon in Pacific Beach for Labor Day weekend with 16 other people. We wanted to do some catching up with our friends so we decided to meet at 7pm there. There was a lot of room for us and the place was quiet enough for us to hear each other without yelling. The clubbing crowd doesn't come until 10pm. A lot of people don't know this but Typhoon Saloon also serves Fred's menu so if you want more TV screens and a more casual eating room...

There will always be the 30 something year old crowd in Pacific Beach. We don't want to grow up.

Posted by ThePacificBeach.com on Thursday, August 29, 2013,
The first time I moved to Pacific Beach, I was 23 years old. I graduated from SDSU the year prior and finally had the money from a full time job to really go out at the bars and live it up. I went to a lot of happy hours and a lot of late night bars for the next few years. It was really hard to save money when you're going out all the time and the bars were only steps away from my door but who cares?

Back then, I remember that I would run into 30 something year olds and wonder what were they t...

California Kebab & Beer Garden in Pacific Beach (CLOSED)

Posted by ThePacificBeach.com on Sunday, June 3, 2012,
Note: This restaurant is now CLOSED.

We went to the newly opened California Kebab & Beer Garden in Pacific Beach last night and we were so impressed. The very first time I went to the Promenade shopping center was when I was a teenager eating Hawaiian food on the rooftop. Eight years later, this place is now a very cool place to drink and eat kebabs. Our plate of food included sirloin, salmon and shrimp kebabs. We got free tasters before we bought the beers we wanted and enjoyed the view of th...

Just for your loyal visitors - Best Hook Up bars in Pacific Beach (PB)

Posted by ThePacificBeach.com on Wednesday, January 11, 2012, In : Bars
Amazingly, I get a lot of visitors trying to find out what are the best bars to find a hook up in Pacific Beach. Okay, you crazy people. Here they are.

Best Bars on the weekends for a hook up:

Mavericks (formerly where Pacific Beach Bar & Grill was located) - Located centrally near many others bas and restaurants, Mavericks is upbeat, with a full food menu (by a certain time) and opens late. Late in San Diego is until all the bars have to close by a certain time. It feels like a night club in t...

Tourism Etiquette for Pacific Beach from your local resident

Posted by ThePacificBeach.com on Monday, January 9, 2012,
Pacific Beach is known to have a lot of visitors, tourists to be exact, visiting us every day. What pains me is when they are very rude or have no respect for residents who actually LIVE here and are a part of their experience.

Not everyone who walks around in PB is a tourist but there is a lot. I'm a native San Diegan and Pacific Beach is my home. Here are some suggested etiquette, if you don't mind reading on.

1. Please don't make fun of 'Slo Mo'. He is our favorite rollerblader who blades t...

PB hotels closest to the bars

Posted by ThePacificBeach.com on Monday, June 13, 2011, In : Pacific Beach Stays
If you're planning an all-nighter in PB and want to find the closest hotels to the bars. Here's a quick list

1. Ocean Park Inn - It is a beach front property and one to two blocks to Firehouse bar and PB ale house. It's also cheap. Check their rates.

2.Tower 23 - One of PB's sophisticated bars and hang outs is inside of this hotel. JRDN is a restaurant and bar at night with good house music. It is pricey though so if you want to show off, stay here. There are also 3 other bars within a block fr...

Things about Pacific Beach bars that are different from other cities.

Posted by ThePacificBeach.com on Monday, April 25, 2011, In : Bars
A lot of visitors come here and they get shocked about San Diego and mainly about Pacific Beach bars and how the nightlife operates here.

Here are some things to be prepared for if this is your first time traveling to Pacific Beach.

1. Bars close early here. San Diego is not allowed to serve alcohol and operate with people with drinks after 2am so they usually try to get everybody out around 1:30 am and last call is earlier than that. I know, early. People always get so surprised because San Di...

Finding a hotel room for July 4th weekend in Pacific Beach

Posted by ThePacificBeach.com on Thursday, July 1, 2010, In : Pacific Beach Stays
Summer is here and there are going to be a lot going on in Pacific Beach. July 4th weekend is always madness. There will be a lot of bikinis, drinking, bbqs and fights! I'm just warning you!

If you're a visitor and plan on drinking, I recommend that you book a room so you'll stay out of trouble. Booking online are usually better deals. Compare prices, find the best hotel within your budget and secure it. See list here: http://arestravel.com/4543_hotel-list.html
