Moondoggies is no more and it feels like an end of an era

I had a lot of memories at Moondoggies. It was one of my go to spots when I was 21 years old and a senior at SDSU. I associate Moondoggies with my college years and the few years after it. Well, it's now closed and new businesses like Duck Dive prosper and take more of the market share. Who can blame them? They have great food and sit really close to the water.

Labor Day weekend at Typhoon Saloon in Pacific Beach (now CLOSED)

I went to Typhoon Saloon in Pacific Beach for Labor Day weekend with 16 other people. We wanted to do some catching up with our friends so we decided to meet at 7pm there. There was a lot of room for us and the place was quiet enough for us to hear each other without yelling. The clubbing crowd doesn't come until 10pm. A lot of people don't know this but Typhoon Saloon also serves Fred's menu so if you want more TV screens and a more casual eating room...

Here are the most common themes:
1. Golf pros and tennis hoes
2. Super heroes
3. Christmas Ugly Sweaters (so popular around the Christmas season)
4. Sports jerseys
5. Nerds

Here are some interesting themes that you rarely see, if ever:
1. Animals
2. Clowns
3. Fruit
4. Military
5. Care bears

Pub crawls - Discounts possible if you call the bars ahead - See more tips

As bar crawls get more popular, here are some new tips for your proactive planners.

1. Do it during the day, starting in the afternoon so you hit some great happy hours.
2. Call the bars ahead of time to see if they can get you a bigger discount.
3. Have the starting point be at someone's house locally so you can pre-game and start of on a right foot that doesn't cost too much money to get buzzed.
4. Don't too crazy themes because some strangers are just going to laugh at you and then that kills...
